What I want

What I want is pretty simple. I want a car stereo that not only plays CDs, but also stores and plays MP3s. And I want it to have 802.11b built in, so it can connect to my WiFi network while the car’s in the garage, and I can upload songs from my computer.

That isn’t too much to ask, is it?

Please let me know when u find this thing!!! I am not sure they would be making one with 802.11b built in though.. Even the hard-disk stereos can't store mp3s right?

That is incredible. I hope that you weren't the first person to conjure forth this brilliant idea, that some company is already engineering it.

    Wow. 🙂

I agree, this comment system is quite unique. Would you consider making it publicly available?

there used to be a company called Empeg that did too. They were bought by SonicBlue(Rio). I would suggest suing a standard card CD that plays mp3 cd's also. Many stereos also allow for external input, so you carry a 256mb portable mp3 player. You don't want a hard drive in your dash board anyways… Jsut my opinion.

This may come sooner than you think! On my blog I have a link to a recent Gates speech in Las Vegas where he talks about this very thing (see the "All Media All the Time" section), plus, programmable refrigerator magnets!? Great blog! 🙂 k

The other thing this radio needs is a connection to the net so we could play internet radio streams. That would be very cool!

I think there is a car adaptor for the iPOD. Probably one of those things to make your car radio think it's playing a tape cassette.
