Greetings. Found your site looking for info on the upcoming Nevada Day Governor's 1864 Ball, which has recently been held at Piper's. I'm a 4th, maybe 5th generation northern Nevadan, living in CA, & my family's name & pictures are "immortalized" in the 4th Ward School. My dad graduated from VCHS in 1921. He designed the Centennial Monument in the Bucket of Blood Saloon parking lot & hand-carved the plaques on it from clay, then had them cast in bronze.

He told me that they played many basketball games there & also held big school dances, which were especially fun because the whole floor is mounted on railroad car springs! Said the stage was strange to stand on because it is built at a significant angle, so the audience can easily see the stuff in the rear of a set.

Thanks for the site, and keep up the good work!
Jack
