Keep Remote Connections Active After Logging Off
This Windows XP tip came in handy for me today while working with a remote computer and a VPN connection, so I wanted to post it and pass it along so I don’t forget it.
Keep Remote Connections Active After Logging Off (Windows NT/2000/XP)
When you log off from a Windows client any Remote Access Service (RAS) connections will be automatically disconnected. Enable this setting to remain connected after logging off.
Open your registry and find or create the key
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.Create a new String value, or modify the existing value, called “
KeepRasConnections” and set it to 1 to remain connected, or 0 to disconnect when you log off.
This tip is from here, and I found it at this Google Answers page.
