Seriously, netcat to remotely access a windows server? It's unencrypted and unauthenticated. Netcat is a wonderously powerful tool but better be sure you understand what it is and is not good at - remember you can do just about anything with a swiss army, you can even cut bread with it but you'll always be better off with a proper bread knife.

Personally a find a decent win32 ssh server does the job with a fully interactive CLI.

heres some tips to keeping your discs from getting scratched up.
1. keep discs in cool places. most discs now are made of polimer based plastic. the polimer in the disc is week to hot places hence the reason for the fan in the wii.
2. if you have any plastic the same size as the disc clean thoroughly and place disc reading side down. if the disc is on a surface not as smooth as read disc side it will be scratched.
3.if you put your disc in wii and notice scratches on it when you take it out after use, most likely your wii is damaged from over use. due to the wii's sensitive eye when over heated the peice that surrounds it swells up from the heat and brushes up against the disc causing the scratches.

... and I forgot to add: I also find I can't use the option "Delete pictures from my device after copying them" on screen 3 of the Wizard, as the checkbox for the option is grayed out.

It's as if the memory card (still in the camera) is set to "read-only" in some way.

I think the upshot is going to be that I have to install the "PhotoFunStudio" software that came on the CD included with the camera ... sigh ... I was so hoping to avoid installing any software and to just use the Microsoft Wizard instead.

Wild guess: there is some kind of protocol mismatch in Microsoft's and Panasonic's implementations of PTP.

Same here with my otherwise very satisfactory new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS10. The weird thing is that my 3-year-old Nikon Coolpix S210 showed no such problem ... until it died that is.

FWIW there is more information from another affected user here :
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-pictures/image-rotation/8020d077-a1a4-480e-9860-e21dc3e3238b
but no answer.

How very very annoying.

Ridiculous.. this is my exact story almost.. my son shoved a DVD into the wii even though twilight princess was in there.. there are tiny scratches all over it now and I am trying to fix it myself before I send it off.. worst of all, I borrowed this from someone because I had already beat it so many times on gamecube and I wanted to be sure it was that much different.. now I have to buy two copies! (well, still one I suppose if I send it to this place or I don't get it to work)
